Dutch Cube Day 2004

Saturday afternoon, we went to a shop that sells all kinds of toys and puzzles called 'Wir War' (I think). I remember I was solving a cube on the street, and a lady passing by asked me some questions about it. One of the things she asked was: "So, can you really solve that think in like.. 10 minutes?!".

Here I am judging one of Lars' clock solves.

Practicing the square-1, because I had not practiced it in a while. I got the Dutch record later that evening :).

Sunday morning. Ron asked me to help a little with some small preperations for the competition. Hans' girlfriend looking good!

Koen and Lars having some practice on the 3x3.

Guus Razoux Schultz practicing the 4x4. Guus is one of the cubers that has been doing it since the 80's. He got second in the World Championchips 1982!

Arjan bosse just finished an official 4x4 solve here! Lars is focussing before starting a solve.

The blindfold event. All 5 competitors started at the same time. I still remember I was really shocked when Ron started solving after memorising for what seemed like a minute.

Me on my way to a 12:36.xx solve. Not very fast, but back then it was a Dutch record.

I remember it was pretty hard to focus at that location. It was very crowded at the Cube Day. I remember I got a bit irritated by a couple of kids making noise right in front of me. No I am not complaining :).

I got two trophees that day, one for finishing 3rd at speedsolving. The other one for getting 1st place at one handed!

Yes, I was very happy. :D
