Step seven: Positioning the Last Layer-edges

Now, if you understand the previous step, this step is really a piece of cake! Positioning the edges can be done in exactly the same way as the corners, but now, use the basic move MD2M'. Whoops… Now I should explain the M move :). The M layer is the layer between the L and R layers. So the MD2M' move will look like this:

38. M D2 M'

This move temporarily places a LL edge in the FD position. Like I just said, we can use this move to solve the positions of the edges the same way we solved the corners. And now, we can use the solved corners as a reference for where the ‘temporarily stored’ edge should go. You can look at the colour of the F sticker on the FD edge piece (without looking at the bottom of the cube), to see what colour it has. So solving a 3 cycle would go like this:

39. MD2M' - U - MD2M' - U - MD2M' - U2 - MD2M'

If you understand step 6, then I guess this doesn’t really need explanation. In that case, the following example is really useless:

40. MD2M' - U - MD2M' - U' - MD2M' U' - MD2M' - U' - MD2M' - U - MD2M' - U

Congratulations! You now know how to solve Rubik’s Cube! :)
