Step three: Solving the middle layer pieces
For solving middle layer edge pieces, we will only use one algorithm, and it’s mirror. But before I show you these two algorithms, look at the applet below.

This applet shows how to solve a bottom layer corner simultaneously with one middle layer edge piece. In fact this move is the same move for solving a corner in step two (applet 18). The difference is the edge piece is in the right position. The algorithm for solving the middle layer pieces in this step will first create the pattern shown above, and then solve the two pieces (a corner-edge pair) together. Now, the applets below will show you how to solve the middle layer. Look at the applets a couple of times before you try it yourself. For memorization, it’s always important that you understand where the pieces are going.
